Dr. Elena Shakhnovich, Research Fellow
After graduating from Samara State Medical University (Samara, Russian Federation) in 2008, I decided to focus on fundamental medicine. From 2010 to 2014 I was a PhD student and also worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Fundamental and Clinical Biochemistry with Laboratory Diagnostics at Samara State Medical University. In 2013, I successfully defended my PhD thesis entitled “Characterization of protein-protein interaction considering blood type”. The results of my scientific research formed the basis for 8 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals. I am also a co-author of 3 patents.
After making aliyah to Israel, I continued my academic career as a research fellow at the Prof. Pinhasov's laboratory for Behavioral and Molecular Psychiatry at the Ariel University. My current project is devoted to real time monitoring of blood protein levels in patients with bipolar disorder.
